Variscite and Sterling Silver Ring

This is a spectacular Variscite cabochon. It is from the Broken Arrow mine in Nevada. The silver on the setting and on the band has been fused, this means that several pieces of silver were overlayed on a soldering board and heated to nearly the melting point. There is just enough flow for the several pieces to become one piece. The fused pieces on the band were soldered to a single piece of silver with the stamping of Savannah Moon and 925 which is an acceptable mark for sterling silver as it is 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% copper. Ric originally built this ring for himself and has worn it several times, however, there are no marks on it. It appears new. This ring weighs 49 grams. A troy ounce is 31.1 grams. This ring is a size 8-1/2.
